This is a poem I wrote for extra credit in my lit class during our poetry unit. The teacher said if we write a poem and recite it to the class, we would get up to 10 points (out of 100) on our next exam. This poem got me 10/10 #FTW
As I stood by my laptop, from which The party’s music was coming,
You walked over to me.
You threw your hands in the air Like you just didn’t care.
And you put yourself on me.
Impressed by the curvature of your body As well as being somewhat intoxicated, I accepted your embrace and held you, Patting your back,
Asking if you were okay.
You said yes.
You left me to dance some more, But I felt different now;
Not unlike the Daft Punk, I was Going to Get Lucky.
You, in your drunken stupor, embraced another man:
My friend who, under the joy-inducing so-called ‘poisons’ of Keystone (or was it Coors?), Made about five moves on you,
The last of which you finally accepted.
Within five minutes of these playful flirtations, I was sentenced
To witness a quarter-hour’s worth of public indecency occurring
Three feet from my unfogged eyes.
Alas, it ended, you nightmare.
But you were unaware of how I felt,
So I forgave you and hit play on another track.
You danced your heart out, returning to me once more.
You fell on me again:
Fuck me please;
I apologize for calling you a bitch. I held you, asked if you were okay In response to your sad expression.
You left as your friend pulled you up the stairs. You were a disappointment.
What the fuck.
I invited you to the party.
